The graduation ceremony for the 2023-2024 Academic Year of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University was held with great enthusiasm.
The ceremony began with the laying of a wreath at the Atatürk Monument in Cumhuriyet Square by Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar.
The ceremony continued at MAKÜ Independence Stadium, attended by Burdur MPs Mustafa Oğuz and İzzet Akbulut, Burdur protocol members, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Ömer Tekşen, Prof. Dr. Hakan Öner and Prof. Dr. Oğuz Gürsoy, Secretary General Ümit Yavuz, academics, students and their families.
The graduation excitement, which started with the procession march organized at the Independence Stadium, was attended by international students from 42 different countries, as well as students and academics from all departments of the university.
The ceremony began with a moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem. Then, the performance of the MAKÜ Folk Dance Team took place. The program continued with student speeches. On behalf of the Undergraduate Graduates of the 2023-2024 Academic Year, Bucak Computer and Informatics Faculty Student Enes Sefa Erdoğan, on behalf of the Associate Degree Graduates, Yeşilova İsmail AKIN Tourism Vocational School Student Cennet Seher Gölgeli, and on behalf of the Foreign National Graduate students, Education Faculty Student Mekan Allanazarov each made a speech. Then, the students nailed a plaque to the graduation log.
Being Human on the Road to Success
At the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar made the opening speech. Addressing the graduates, Rector Dalgar emphasized the importance of successfully completing the challenging process at the university, and stressed the need to fight and not to compromise their humanity. Referring to Akif's words, Rector Dalgar reminded the sentence "Rely on God, embrace the shadow, become a lover of wisdom, this is the way, I don't know any other way", emphasizing that it is essential to be in love with effort.
Thanks to Academics for International Success
Rector Dalgar also highlighted the sacrifices of academics in the education of students and shared the international success achieved in the 2024 Impact Ranking of Times Higher Education, in addition to the 5 Year Full Accreditation received by the university, and thanked the contributing academics. Rector Dalgar also emphasized that MAKÜ should be known as a university that prioritizes social contribution, produces projects for regional development and social welfare, and has an innovative educational model. He emphasized the importance of MAKÜ as a university that sets an example to Turkey with its applied education models.
Rector Dalgar's Emphasis on Justice and Human Rights
Rector Dalar drew attention to the oppressions worldwide, called for not remaining silent against human rights violations in Gaza, Palestine, East Turkestan and Arakan, and reiterated their support for the Palestinian people.
After the speeches, an award ceremony was held for students who achieved first place in their schools with their academic performances over seven terms. The students received their awards from the hands of the protocol members.
Caps in the Air!
After the awards were given to the winning students at the ceremony, Dr. Lecturer Hakan Acar made the graduating students take the graduation oath. The graduation ceremony ended with the students who graduated from Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University throwing their caps into the air together. The happiness in the students' eyes doubled with their hugging their families. Students immortalized this moment by taking graduation photos with their families and friends.

At the colorful graduation ceremony, students enjoyed the graduation excitement to the fullest by singing along to the songs played with the interactive DJ Show of Group Suz-i Dil and Fahriye Concert and Doğukan Alsay.
Double Pride at the Graduation Celebration,
The graduation ceremony was celebrated with two great joys this year. During the ceremony, news came of the first place of the MAKÜ Folk Dance team, which participated in the 29th Danube Carnival and International Folk Dance Competition held in Hungary.
Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar expressed his pride in this great success achieved by the folk dance team. Rector Dalgar said, "I congratulate our MAKÜ Folk Dance team, which represents our Burdur, the cultural capital of the Teke region, and our country, and whose success is now certified worldwide. I am proud of them."
This double pride at the graduation ceremony provided unforgettable moments for the students and participants. The successes of MAKÜ once again demonstrated the university's strength in cultural and academic fields.
